Washington, D.C.

That's in

Starting at

7:00

PM

Taking place at

Blind Whino
700 Delaware Ave SW
Washington, DC 20024

For out of towners, we recommend just taking a cab or using uber/lyft/hail-o.  For the DC folks, the venue is not far from Nats Park but it's still about half a mile away from the nearest metro, so you may want to take a cab/uber/lyft/hail-o as well.  You could also drive there, but there is very limited street parking at the venue, so we recommend cabbing there and leaving your Bugatti in the garage.
We are beyond pumped that you will be joining us to celebrate our marriage with us.  Each and every one of you has played an integral part in our being together (so really this is all your fault), so we wanted to throw you all a giant thank you bash for making us who we are today.

So, what is this?
This is our wedding reception.  The ceremony and other formalities took place in March earlier this year.  It was a private event with just our immediate family, and while it would have been nice to have our friends, family, and extended family all celebrate together, we thought it would be more fun for everyone involved to separate the events.  Plus, Grandma doesn't really like doing kegstands (anymore).
When is all of this going down?

7:00 PM (until around 11:00 PM)
UPDATE: We will have a welcome drinks thingamabob on Friday night at 9pm (until close) at Sudhouse located at 1340 U ST. NW WASHINGTON D.C 20009, which everyone is welcome to come to, so come by and say hi!  It's a casual place, and we have the whole second floor blocked off with our own cash bar.  Food also available for purchase if you're hungry.. I'm told that their tacos are definitely something to taco bout.
I'll be hungry and thirsty.. will we be taken care of?
Yes.  While there will not be a formal sit-down dinner, food will be provided. There will also be an open bar.
Where can I stay?
For your convenience, we have set aside a block of rooms at the Courtyard by Marriott (Capitol Hill/Navy Yard) (reference the "Song Wedding Block" when making the reservation):
  • To reserve, click here or call 1-866-329-0003 (the rooms may be booked up by now).
Note that it is not very difficult to get around DC, so any hotel/lodging in the DC/Maryland/Virginia (DMV) area should be fine to book.  You will be (at most) a short cab/Lyft/Uber ride away from most places worth going to.  If you are still not booked, try Hotel Tonight (click here use promo code YSONG52 and you'll get $25 off your first booking) or Airbnb (click here to sign up and get $35 off) for nice places at reasonable prices.
I need a plan of action.. what's happening when?
There will be cornhole and beer pong all night.. Pro tip: If you get there a hair before 7pm, there's a chance you could get a game in with the bride and/or groom!
7:00pm: Eat, drink and mingle (no, that's not the name of a law firm).  Food servers walk through with plates of hors d'oeuvres.  Walter's pants starts to feel a little tight at the waist.
7:45pm: Grand entrance!! Head up to the main dance floor/stage area; drink(s) in hand.
8:00pm: By this point, you will have witnessed our vows and cheered us on.  Things start to pick up a notch.  Plenty of food available for consuming.  There should be plenty of places to sit and eat throughout the venue.  Find one of those places and pig out!
8:30pm: RAGE!
I don't see a link to a registry.. what the heck?
No presents.. only presence!  The best gift you can give us is to simply have a great time.  Since this isn't a conventional wedding, we are not adhering to conventional gift-giving rules.  We will, however, accept thoughtfully written cards with your best marriage advice, so we will have a small card-writing station and a box to drop in cards, pictures, problem sets, and loose change.  Just no cigarette butts or voting ballots please!
What am I supposed to wear?
We don't really have a dress code and you can feel free to wear anything you want (seriously) but for the sake of having one and in an effort to minimize confusion, let's just go with cocktail attire for the ladies, and, for the gentlemen, go with whatever your significant other requires.  If you're single.. well, you do what you think is best for you.

Some things to keep in mind with respect to footwear: While most of the party will be spent indoors, which is made up of two stories, there are a couple stairways that may not be the most heel-friendly.. everyone should be fine (they're not death traps), but beginner heel-wearers (such as Walter) should tread with the tiniest bit of caution.  The outdoor area (which is located in the front part of the venue) consists of gravelly rocks.
Still confused about this or any of the above?
